Private Don Evans survived wounds twice and capture. He lived to tell his fallen comrades' stories. I found Don's memoir, where he tells the story of witnessing Uncle Pete's death on the Roer Plains of Germany. His book connected our two families and filled in many questions about Pete's life. Two good friends and fellow soldiers from Pennsylvania serving together in the Reconnaissance Company. "Always into the Enemy"
